Lexi and Dave’s wedding was held at the Chequessett Yacht and Country Club in Wellfleet, MA – a location I am very familiar with and one of my favorite all time wedding venues. Personal touches were everywhere, created by the bride and her friends and family. I loved that even with some unexpected events (high tide and high winds were a bit of a surprise when we arrived at the beach, and a forgetful rental company left us without a Huppah) this couple rolled with it and the day was just as they had planned – beautifully intimate, fun, and filled with the joy of their closest friends.
We planned on a first look at the Penny House in Eastham, MA. The grounds there were so bright from mid-day sun, but we had an hour for portraits before going to the beach. After our engagement session this winter I had earned Lexi and Dave’s trust so they didn’t hesitate when I asked them to move pretty much into this really fantastic tree on the grounds. Softened the light and gave some really wonderful opportunities to play with depth and composition.
Then it was off to the Yacht Club! These are just a few of the details I mentioned before. So beautifully done!
In the image you can see below the makeshift Huppah that the coordinators at CYCC created. They really did come through in a pinch! Four paddles, fishing line and a crisp white tablecloth did the trick. Add in four loved family members to do the honors of holding it to make sure our newly-created sail didn’t blow away and we were ready for the ceremony.
Lexi and Dave took a private moment down the beach after the ceremony. On their way back I was observing them, she grabbed his arm, he did a fist-pump, and I shot this image which is one of my favorites of the day. So authentic and beautiful.
Lexi and Dave wanted a collection that wan’t filled with all typical images, I knew they were open to something a little different. One look at these clouds and I knew this was the right couple to take a little artistic license. I really love the result and can’t wait to hear what they think of it!
The reception was casual and fun – complete with a food truck dinner! Guests wandered in and out of the boathouse and onto the sand where there were two food trucks waiting – the Chubby Chickpea and the Bacon truck.
Thank you for inviting me to be a part of your day!
