Strong family ties to the outer Cape made a Wellfleet wedding the perfect choice for Morgan and Isaac! Their wedding celebration included a rehearsal dinner at the families house just a few miles from town, just after a portrait session in a nearby harbor. This post shows the wedding day itself, and then in a later post I will share the day before’s events!
First, we began the wedding day at The Moorings, an adorable property in Wellfleet that has a main house and several small cottages around a waterfront fire pit. A pretty amazing place to spend a few days with your favorites for a Wellfleet wedding weekend!
Before the first look outside, we took a moment to get an image of the bride. So important to do when it is extremely warm out! Then it was time for Isaac to see his bride.
After some portraits and greeting, parents and close friends gathered in the main house for an intimate Ketubah ceremony. The Rabbi talked about the meaning of the Ketubah, what it meant in generations past, and what it symbolizes today.
After the Ketubah was signed, the bride and groom spontaneously did a fist-bump (“blow-it-up” style!). This is something that is their thing and I was so glad I caught it! Officially married and so very excited about it! It doesn’t get much better than that. Then, it was off to Chequessett Yacht and Country Club for the ceremony and reception!
Morgan and Isaac wanted their celebration to be personal and unique, so family and friends designed and made the decorations in the boathouse.
Chequessett is a spot I have been photographing weddings in for years. Each wedding is a little different, as they do a great job customizing the space for each couple. Behind the rock retaining wall is a large flat area that was perfect for Morgan and Isaac’s wedding ceremony. First they had to move the boats out, of course!
When Morgan’s mother was chatting with me the night before the wedding, we talked about her walking her daughter down the aisle. She said to me “Isn’t it an HONOR to be asked to do that?”. Yes, it sure is!
Morgan and Isaac couple wrote their own vows. The heartfelt, genuine words to each other brought both sets of parents to tears.
After the ceremony the three of us snuck off for some photos on the beach. Of course I made sure to capture some fun images, lots of romantic ones, a traditional one for the moms and finally some artistic portraits, too! A little sun flair in a stunning black and white contrasty image is my favorite!
After the dance floor was open for all, it was then time for the Horah! The Horah is always an honor to photograph. The room fills with laughter, tradition, and dance!
This image may be my favorite from the evening. I love how her dress is twirling, the groom is having a great time, and shadows of guests having fun fill the frame.
Finally it was one more goodnight image back at The Moorings. Then the couple was off to after-party with friends!
Thank you to Alicia for being my second photographer for the day!
