Tim contacted me a few weeks ago and presented his over-the-top romantic idea for his wife, Kristina. They have been married 10 years and had always regretted not investing more in their wedding photography. As a result, they really did not have any wedding photos at all to remember their day. So he was going to surprise her with the idea of re-taking their wedding photos at the dock where he proposed over a decade ago. But the surprise was so much more than that! I was super nervous about this shoot because I had to be very careful about what I said and did as to not spoil it all. We started photographing at the dock and got some great images…. After about 45 min I suggested that it was getting a bit windy and said there is a church nearby that I love to photograph at (a little white lie, I had never been there before!). Kristina was willing to go wherever I wanted to take photos, so off we went. When we got there I mentioned that I had better go inside and make sure we didn’t need permission to be on the grounds of the church. I snuck in and took my position in front of the door. Below is Kristina’s reaction when Tim said “I have another surprise for you!” and two of their friends opened the door to the church. At this point she realizes that this is a surprise vow renewal, and the whole family has been in on it for weeks!
Tim walked his very surprised bride down the aisle while family and friends showed their support by clapping, cheering, and taking photos. Lots of images from that moment but here is my personal favorite…
After the vow renewal, we had a few moments to take some photos inside the church. Below you can see the moment of love and laughter between these two. She wasn’t supposed to be giggling in the first one but I love it!
Believe it or not, there was another surprise! Tim had arranged a full reception at the Publick House in Sturbridge, MA for his wife and their 75 guests. Congratulations Tim and Kristina on a decade together! I wish you many more happy years!
