Nicole and Garrett’s wedding day took guests through the historic streets of Newport, Rhode Island. A Belle Mer<\/a> Island House wedding reception was waiting for them.

We started the day at the Hotel Viking<\/a> in their light-filled suites. In my experience, this is one of the best places to get ready in Newport! I arrived just as the girls were finishing with hair and make-up. The room had the most relaxed vibe I’ve experienced on a wedding day and it was amazing! These ladies were gorgeous, ready, on time and on top of everything. Before getting dressed, Nicole read a private letter from her husband-to-be in lieu of sharing their vows in front of guests. Such a sweet way to tell your future spouse how you feel.

With all of the bridal details captured, I snuck away to visit the gentlemen in their getting-ready suite at the hotel. Garrett read his letter from Nicole before taking off to the church with his groomsmen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Nicole and her dad shared a sweet first look outside the hotel before we all hopped on the trolly to head to the church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

I love this moment in the ceremony, and look for it at every wedding. The couple will look down at their own rings, and then each other’s . To be honest, I get pretty excited every time I get to capture it. The rings show the world of their commitment to each, and those first moments are so sweet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the ceremony Nicole and Garrett wanted a few images at the church. I typically stay away from the altar and instead look for gorgeous light and stained glass. This staircase leads up the choir loft. I noticed the amazing light on them when I snuck up to the loft during the ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, it was time to head to their Belle Mer Island House wedding reception! The Island House is stunning, with soft, dreamy wedding design and an unparalleled view of the Newport bridge. One of my favorite places to take photos here is upstairs in the loft. Nicole and Garrett had some downtime and a toast with their bridal party in the loft before more photos outside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
