Cape Cod weddings are incredible to photograph, and one of my favorite spots to photograph a cape cod wedding is here in Wellfleet at the Chequessett Club.
Every client wants portraits on the beach and the truth is that as much as I can control my lighting, I cannot control the natural light. For that reason I always like to bring the couple back out to the beach during their reception, timed to when the light is best. This image was taken moments after sunset, when there is still enough backlight to create a rim around the couple (just enough for them to stand out a bit!) but the sky is lit up in incredible detail. I took this bride and groom our of their wedding reception for maybe 10 minutes - just enough to walk down the beach and back. I love the movement of her dress, and that you can see both the ceremony beach location, tented dinner area, and the boathouse where guests currently were dancing in the background. An image that perfectly encompasses "THIS is where we got married".
