After a long day of getting ready, ceremony, and reception we will already have an enormous collection of photographs from your wedding. The last portrait, however, is a really unique one and I always encourage clients to take the (brief) time away from their reception for it. I most often (as long as weather allows) step outside for this portrait. There's often no bouquet, no jacket, no veil. Casual, comfortable and romantic is the goal.
For this image I had walked around the grounds as the sun was setting and guests were eating dinner and spotted this gorgeous glow from a huge historic window. This window leads into the main parlor, where the reception dancing was being held. I exposed my image to include the warm wood tones from inside the room, then lit the couple from camera left with an off-camera flash.
