How incredible gorgeous is this bride's dress? The best way to photograph a dress with all of the sheer layers that this one has is to light it from the side. I also love depth in my photographs, so I placed the couple where I could control the light and see these incredible stone pillars. The light coming from the side creates more contrast in the shadows that fall around each of the folds, highlighting each one of them. The white color of the dress stands out against the dark shadows well behind the couple, and is flattering on both of their faces. This altogether creates a really pleasing image. We did take several versions of this with the bride and groom looking at the camera, but this (slightly more candid) version wins in my book for the added sweetness of the groom's romantic kiss on her forehead.
