This couple was married under a huppah at the Herreshoff Maritime Museum in Bristol, Rhode Island. If there was only one image I could give from this couple's ceremony (there were lots!) it would be this one. It incorporates everything that's important to their ceremony. The huppah blowing in the wind, the groom's hands covered in traditional henna designs, and the colorful tallit (religious shawl) worn by the groom.
This image was photographed as a candid mid-cremony, with a 200mm lens to respect the religious ceremony. I also used a long lens because the background of this image could have been very busy with a road back there (that you cannot see thanks to intentional framing), boats, buildings... all blurred using a small depth of field. The attention is on the couple and their ceremony details, as intended.
I remember trying to capture this image and waiting for the wind to blow just right so that the light on the couple's faces would be flattering and even. The bright spot ended up on the bride's lace detail and the groom's hands which add to the image.
