Capturing the moment, a true, candid moment - takes great amounts of observation and patience. I got my position where I could see the bride and groom as well as spin to get a great angle of the person toasting. When this couple laughed, they naturally leaned towards each other. I noticed this, focused on them and then simply waited until the right laugh came. Every single face in this image supports the moment, but the grooms lean towards the bride is what really makes this image one of my all time favorites!
I love the way the toasts are set up at the Lord Thompson Manor, with the person toasting standing on a small balcony and the guests, holding champagne glasses, all gathered around in the garden.
Oh, and the black and white? I just thought the image popped especially well in monochromatic. Just a personal preference but wow does it keep the focus on their two faces!
