This headshot was taken in an office in Newport, where the client wanted the view outside the windows included in the image. I brought with me lighting that I used to balance the brightness of the subject with the natural light outside, creating an image that shows off the view from the office.
One light is often the perfect amount for environmental business headshots. It allows the subject to have flattering light on their face while allowing the natural ambiance (in this case the view of the buildings) to really show as well.
I did make the decision to leave the line from the windows in the image to show that we are inside. The plate glass windows are so large that without that clue, the viewer could assume the image was taken on a rooftop and not inside and office.
Wherever you office is, making a decision on what to include and not include in your environmental business headshots is an important first planning step in creating images that are valuable to you and your company.
