Posing for wedding photos sounds outdated, with most couples wanting a more candid style. However being placed in a pose that is flattering for both people before capturing an authentic moment is key to getting great images.
In this image, the couple was placed in a doorway because of the overcast and unflattering light outside. The doorway eliminates the light from overhead and the sides of them, and creates flattering light coming from the front. I placed this couple in a pose that followed my "if it bends break it" rule with the couples arms. The brides elbows are pulled away from her body to create a beautiful shape and negative space. Though neither of them are looking at the camera or each other, their connection is the first thing the viewer notices.
